The Absolute Monarchs are a band that refuses to fit comfortably in any existing genre or scene in Seattle. Guitarist Shawn Kock (formerly of Das Llamas), guitarist Miki Sodos, vocalist/bassist, Joel Schneider (My Goodness) and drummer Mike Stubz (Deadkill) fuse hammering drum beats with growling garage punk vocals and jangly guitars that flirt with straight up power pop for a sound that is impossible to ignore. Add to it the angst and muddy reverb that have become almost requirements in the world of Northwest music and what you have is one of the most compelling, emotional, and flat out rocking bands to emerge from the Emerald City in the past decade.
